The word "clergy" usually means the paid minister of a church. I, Julia Melgreen, am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. I am clergy. There are things I can do at church, like do communion and baptisms that people who are NOT clergy are not allowed to do. Clergy are usually the preachers. Clergy do the weddings and funerals. Most people think clergy are closer to God, have read the Bible more, pray all the time and are super spiritual. Is that true? What do you think about clergy?

As Jesus was sent by the Father,
In the power of the Holy Spirit,
For the good of the world.
We are called to learn God’s music of life
In the unique instruments of our bodies, our persons, our times, our settings.
